1. Uneven carbon brush current distribution and excessive current density of individual carbon brushes

In actual operation, if one or two carbon brushes jam due to mechanical reasons, insufficient spring pressure and other reasons, the compression spring will become less elastic, and the carbon brush pressure will be insufficient, causing ignition and slippage between the carbon brush and the slip ring. The ring hits its melting point, increasing heat generation.

2. The surface of the slip ring and carbon brush is dirty

This is the most overlooked point. The carbon brushes of the normal generator are sealed in a closed cabinet, and the graphite carbon powder and carbon brushes are blown away in time by the slip ring fan with the air outlet below the south pole. To achieve the cooling effect. If the generator seals oil leaks or slings the oil to adhere to the carbon brushes and slip rings, on the one hand it will affect the heat dissipation of the carbon brushes. On the other hand, when the carbon brush sparks, the surface of the slip ring is dirty and the insulation strength between the brush posts It's not easy to ring fire.

3. The pressure of the carbon brush compression spring is uneven or does not meet the requirements.

In the long-term operation of the generator, if the friction of a carbon brush is too short, or the carbon brush is stuck in the brush frame, or the pressure spring is overheated due to the high temperature of the carbon brush, the pressure will be uneven; especially the carbon brush is overheated The elasticity of the compression spring will become poor, resulting in insufficient carbon brush pressure, causing ignition between the carbon brush and the slip ring, and the slip ring will hit the melting point and increase heat generation.

4. Bearing vibration is large.

The excitation adopts a three-unit excitation system generator set, a large shaft with an exciter and a secondary exciter. Due to the long shafting and more additional equipment, it is naturally difficult to control the vibration to a minimum. The long-term operation of the unit, fatigue, aging and other complex factors cause the bearing vibration to increase. With the vibration of the carbon brush, the friction of the brush column will be uneven, the lead wire and the spring will be loose, and local sparks will gradually further affect the overall situation. This is also the unfavorable factor that caused the fire.

5. Other disadvantages

The rotor current of the generator runs under high current for a long time, the generator load is basically at the rated operation, and during a single unit operation, the system reactive power shortage is relatively large, and the reactive power carried is basically running at the rated value.
